Featured Carved White Whale

    I know nothing about this. It doesn't seem to be signed but it has a small more original sticker at the bottom, and the next store put a label on top of that which was removed.

    It is 6 & 1/2 inches long and of a heavy stone.

    There was a similar carved white swan that was about the same size but looked like the work of a different hand. That has a similar label that says, "KSCCA 707"

    I kind of think it looks like a a white-headed whale with a wrinkled brow and a crooked jaw, myself.

    Alas, I have no Spanish Gold doubloon from Ecuador, which is actually what Ahab nails to the mast of the Pequod.

    And of course, it's Ahab himself who first sights MD on each of the three days he's seen.

    But I digress....

    google on : african soapstone whale. you see lots of them.

    But mine looks like outsider art.

    Or the work of a undiscovered tribe.

    I think at least it has that going for it.

    Love it! It would make a nice mascot near the computer, for deep diving in research projects.
