Its age and origin are unknown to me. The previous owner was told by the party from whom they rec’d it that it is from a specific region but I'm going to leave that out for the sake of objectivity. It is 6 ½” Long and 4 ½” Tall. It is a heavy piece weighing 2 lbs. 2 oz. with very smooth surfaces. I’m uncertain of the type of stone. Its natural color is primarily brown with several small areas of natural green (see right cheek). Its Eyes are unusual almost like it has eyelashes. Its Beak has Nostrils and it even has an Anus. The Feet have Five (5) “Toes” each. There is a Chip in the surface of the Perch which shows the unfinished nature of the stone. Seeking feedback per its age, origin and potential value.

He might be a modern Shona carving from Zimbabwe. His feet, at least, look similar to some of the stone bird carvings found at the site of Great Zimbabwe, and birds remain popular subjects for contemporary carvers.
