Carved gargoyle chair

    Those curious was being sold at $360 and I ended up paying $275.

    Victorian 1890s or so and American. Not really a gargoyle. More likely the Green Man or North wind. Leaning toward the former, as the embellishment looks like foliation. Figures on arms look like ET …. LOL! Maybe dolphins. Appears to be mahogany and/or woods stained to mimic mahogany.

    I know a few dealers in florida who would weep with gratitude to get $275 for something like this.Are you in a major city ?

    Hmm,the market must be different out there. Here in florida you cant give victorian away.Its a great chair.

    I'm relatively new to antiques (have been collecting for around 2 years now) and am willing to pay what I feel is reasonable. Have probably both over paid and under paid for items. Mostly into gothic revival/ Victorian.
