Carved First Nation Plaque

    Recently purchased this nice plaque. 23 x 10 inches, signed Paul Auger. Really couldn't find much info on this besides North West coast, 1960s-80s for his work. I believe it depicts a raven ? Any additional info is helpful. s-l1600 (20).jpg s-l1600 (21).jpg l.

    Most likely it is raven due to the straight beak; we'd expect a curved beak for eagle or thunderbird.

    long straight beak like that.....raven.
    hooked beak ....eagle
    large hooked beak with curly Q ears .... T-Bird.

    I think you may have overpaid a little..

    the $199 tag that states raven.......looks like a previous auction tag...
    but not a good indicator of value..

    Paid less then the $75. recent listed amount which I thought was fair. nice looking piece IMO.

    It shows an interesting and rather "squared off" use of the traditional forms, following the rules but displaying some innovation also. I'm not familiar with the artist, however, but nice that Birddog found some biographical information.
