Carved bowl

    image.jpg I bought this from a charity shop for £4 a few years ago. It's heavy dense wood and all carved from one piece, 12 ins long, 4 and a half in wide and 4ins deep. Any info about where, when and wood type appreciated. Many thanks. image.jpg

    It isn't US/Canada Northwest Coast Native, despite some superficial resemblance in the designs. I'd be thinking Indonesian or Polynesian tourist item.

    Yupppers.......I have a sea turtle made of Ironwood from Indonesia that looks like that...

    Thanks all- fakes it's the turtles that made me think of Polynesia too and it may have been bought by a tourist when heavy stuff in your luggage wasn't such a big deal.

    Great....now I'm wondering if mine ...& yours aren't maybe Mexican......
    Mine had a label on it...but the wife boxed it up years ago...& finding it....well....U No !! :inpain:
