    Hi Everyone,

I have this large (25cmH) ginger jar, which I believe is Carlton Ware ‘New Mikado’ pattern. Every other example I can find has a white base with the CW stamp. Mine has been coloured but has the pattern number for New Mikado (2728) painted in gold on it. Can anyone please explain to me why? Thank you!

I got my answer. Posted this in Carlton Ware World on FB. It’s had a repair. Never seen one like this before. When you look inside can see the resin or whatever has been used has come through. Interesting break and repair. Still don’t understand why they painted the pattern number on it though?
