Can you tell me anything about this box's style and age?

Hi all! Apologies, but I am pretty clueless when it comes to telling the age of furniture and anything wooden really. Picked up this box amongst other things recently because I liked the Art Deco feel to it. It is 10.75"L x 6"W x 2.4". My questions for those more knowledgeable than me,
1. Is it a cigar box?
2. Does it have any age and what type of wood is it made from?
3. Can you give any tips dating a piece like this based on the hinges? (I couldn't find much info online)

It looks like, and I am nowhere near knowledgeable enough to say for sure, but it looks like perhaps it was made in the 1920’s-1930’s, an Art Deco piece maybe with the style of hinge and overall geometric look to it.

 

Thanks for taking a look! I was hoping it was Art Deco but was torn between that and possibly 1960s

 

Agree with deco styling and a 30s date at the earliest. would think it could be as late as the 50s. As to function? Maybe a letter/keepsake box. Would think the size and materials wrong for cigars.
