    IMG_4782.jpeg IMG_4781.jpeg Hello everyone,

I recently bought this necklace online. It didn't cost the world: almost 20€ all incl..came from France and was described as: vintage sixties silver tone necklace.
Can you see what I saw, which made me buy it?
(Sorry, couldn't help myself...I m dying to find out if you get the same vibe from it as I did...more
pictures will follow with the answer)

As always its difficult to find the exact same one.
But (to me at least) its clear it came from the same factory as the examples in this amazing book.

its not the nicest example of his work and its also not the nicest Bengel I own, but I couldn't let it pass for almost 20€

Not a chance with kyra and myself around.
You did well. And even if it isn't your nicest Bengel, it is certainly a very nice one.

This one, although a different design, has the same boxlink chain:

I had to replate part of the chrome, because the underlaying metal came trough.
Will have to work a bit more on it maybe. But for now its fine.

I introduced a Mexican friend to Jacob Bengel AND William Spratling. Turns out a lot of these modernist Mexican silver designers owe a 'thank you' to these 1930s Bengel designs

    Kudos for your bargain:woot:
Did you use a "liquid chrome" marker?

Kyra, no, I use silver plater (pure silver in liquid).
It needs a lot of work (rubbing it in, layer after layer) but it works miracles on anything which remotely looks silvery.
I even sometimes use it on gold plated items where the layer has partly gone. It gives them a more uniform look.

I would not have known the designer so my answer would have been: You picked it up because it has amazing design! :D It's a really good look, no matter who made it. Congratulations!

I can honestly say I probably wouldn't have given that a second look. Might have nobbled the pieces in the book because industrial Deco is fun. That designer isn't well-known here and I've never seen his work before.
