    Could you post a photo of the item itself? Front and back views please.
    On the photo you posted your hand is the main 'item', and I'm sure you're not asking about that.;)

    Half a belt buckle which has been buried, I'd say.

    I think it's one of those where you sewed the long bar onto fabric, maybe elasticated. The hook then had a corresponding other to loop into.

    Yeppers - half of a very old belt buckle. Those glass "stones" are in good shape for the abuse they took.
