Renaissance Revival side chair that would have belonged to a dining room set ca. 1890. In the manner of RJ Horner; it could even be from his shop.

of course, you must realize that we have no idea where you are , so estimates like this will vary wildly between , Seattle, Charlotte, Dallas, & Bangor ME. ... & London !

 

Ghopper quite correctly said “in the manner of” RJ Horner. The truth is that there were many, many furniture companies in the US borrowing each others ideas at the tail end of the Victorian period. For that reason, a few of the more prominent companies often have pieces loosely attributed to them incorrectly these days.

If you want to know whether these are in fact from Horner company, you should contact the Fontaine auction company, which specializes in their furniture: https://www.fontainesauction.com/buy-sell/auction-estimate/

They can give you the best estimate for value. You should not get your hopes too high, however. At the end of the day, two dining side chairs are not going to be in relatively high demand. But it will be interesting to find out what Fontaine can tell you about the maker, value, and whether they are interested in consigning them. So please let us know what they say (start by sending them better pictures).
