    Hi All,

I came across these two pieces the other day, and was wondering if anyone knows what they are and whether or not
    they are valuable.

    Any help is much appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Sam

The first one is a fairly recent palindon style painting from the village of Kamasan on the island of Bali, Indonesia. It probably depicts a scene from the Hindu epic Ramayana, but I'd have to see the entire painting.

The second one seems to have been published by The Mainichi, a Japanese newspaper.

    Thank you.

Bit crude this but do you think it's worth £50?

Also, when you say recent what decade would you approximate?

    Which one?
Without seeing any detail to help, I 'd have to guess the Balinese painting looks ca 2000, give or take a decade. But I don't know much about recent Balinese, just that these Kamasan paintings are still being made. They have been made in exactly the same classic Javanese style since the Middle Ages. First in East Java, later on Bali, which was an East Javanese colony for a while.

As to value, I don't know much about values of recent art, and we don't do valuations here. We just point you in the right direction, which in this case is recent Kamasan painting and The Mainichi print.;)
So you can google Kamasan painting, and focus on recent and unsigned. You can also google the The Mainichi print, there are bound to be more.
