Hi, can anyone tell me anything about this desk/cupboard. Like for example when it was made and who made it. Or if anyone can give me information about it that could lead me to find more info on it. Also, what is it used for. It looks like to me a desk used for writing letters. Thanks in advance.

    What you've got here is a bureau, also called a fall-front desk, a slant-top desk or a drop-front desk.

The interior pigeon-holes need to stand up properly. The middle shelves are supposed to be horizontal and the pigeon-holes at the ends are vertical.

    I agree with shangas.
If that is the original insert it should be at the back attached to the inside top, standing upright.

    Time period looks 1930s - 40s,

Agree with the above but think it could be just a tad older. Maybe as old as 1910. I don't think it is American and, therefore, forms are a bit different than here. If it had hardware, it might be a bit easier to date. Wood is oak.
