Hi all, new to this forum. I picked this up in France a couple of days ago, the language barrier made it pretty much impossible to find out about this piece. Can anyone advise on what period, what it's made from etc?

    Many thanks
    Martin

Poor dusty thing! Just a guess, but with those hinges and carvings Im thinking 1870s. Its a lovely piece, wait for others to chime in.

Out of my league but would think at least 19th century. Likely a provincial piece. The wood may be beech.

Thank you both, I really appreciate it! And does anyone have any thoughts on potential value? I know it’s a difficult question to answer.

    Bests

Impossible....without at least knowing where you are...the condition of the item, a better call on it's manufacture.....and how you plan to sell it..!

Some images of screws and joints of the wood could help identify the time period and craftsmanship. No markings on the bottom?.

Welcome, @Martin Coles -- any possibility you could post more photos as requested above?

Thanks! Now we just need some of the same furniture experts (or others) to drop by again. :)

Great pictures. Doesn't change my view other than to confirm that this is likely mid 19th century or later. Top looks to be 2 board or, possibly, three.. Think I am also seeing 2 boards in the door panels. Earlier pieces would be a single board.
