Can Anybody tell me anything about this nice silver plate Tray I found.

Came homefrom the Flea Market today with this tray. It's Silver Plate, and has Celluloid Handles. it is about 10.5" across. Should I Polish it?

 

Wrights or Goddard's silver polish. I like the foam.

 

Nice! Probably a "sandwich" or "cake" tray, but a useful size regardless. And a named pattern besides!

 

A caution. This Duchesse design does not match the 1907 Duchesse flatware, made only in sterling, by International Silver. There are other pieces of the silverplated hollowware like yours, but I haven't found a date yet. Does look very 1920's though. Replacements ascribed a 1921 "discontinued date" to theirs.

 

Thank you Bev and Bakersgma for the info. I appreciate you taking time to look, I figured the 20's or 30's might be a good date because of the celluloid handles. I know silverplate doesn't command high prices, but this was just too cool to pass up at $5.
I figured if it doesn't sell I wouldn't mind living with it for awhile <GRIN>

 

I'd have trouble parting with it.

 

I also wondered about he celluloid handles.....I haven't found anything by this maker with celluloid handles....is that uncommon?

BEV. I really HATE to part with it. but an increase in Medical costs and a decrease in Paycheck have created a $500 monthly gap I have to try to fill thru eBay! UGH!

There are a couple listed on eBay that are similar but the pattern is a little different. Here is a similar one that sold, did you see it?
