I haven’t been able to find anything similar online and wondered whether they are a common find or not and what period they are from?

Very pretty! They're early 20th c. The screw back was first seen in about 1909. Your ladies are handcarved helmet shell. The tiara is an attribute of Juno.

I have seen similar before, but in general it's harder to find cameo earrings than brooches... Especially decently carved ones. What a great find!

Here in Europe the screwback appeared in the 1890s.:)

I've read that screw-back earrings were most popular during the 1940s/50s. And my own understanding is that they didn't see much popular use until the 1920s, though they were available earlier, as others say.
Below is an American patent from 1894.
IMHO, screw-backs are most saleable if easily convertible to pierced earring findings, as yours (and many drop styles) would be.
The long chain drop on yours is unusual. Pretty!

They've mostly disappeared again, unless you're me and have no holes. I'd wear them in a heartbeat if I had them.

They are interesting with the long chain. I wonder if stylistically that points to a time?

    Nice find!

I have been pondering these & the question of age. Have gone back & forth in my mind, finally feeling they are more likely to be c. 1950s.

I felt like the flower style screw was earlier, but I'm no expert. Maybe someone else who has similar style in their horde could help us out.

I have pierced ears but I wear screwback and clip if they're cute. The screw have been more comfortable than a lot if the clips I've encountered.

...but I will deal with pain for exceptional beauty. :p

They may be a marriage. Look at the rings on the earring findings that the chains attach to. They've been worked over.
