Maryland Public TV has an ARS-like weekly show called "Chesapeake Collectibles." Admission is by a minimum donation to the network. Episodes are 30 min. I know many of the appraisers who are good, honest folks. The valuations are a bit more conservative than on ARS. See full episodes here: http://video.mpt.tv/show/chesapeake-collectibles/

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

    Thanks, Springsie!
I'm too cheap to join, but I bet my sis-in-law will... she's embarking on an avocation of buying/selling/collecting old toys, and it looks like that program looks at such.

Episode 416 ............ Looks like at least one "expert" needs to go to school . Yard sale jewelry section he says a dull white base opal needs an application of oil to bring out the color and make the opal brighter and colorful.Opal in nonporous, soaking in water or oil will do nothing.

Opals are fragile. Oiling them makes them look nice temporarily but that's about it. They used to sell opal chips in little bottles or orbs filled with mineral oil. It made the bits look really pretty. Getting rough wet is how miners and dealers figure out what they've got.
