I picked this up a couple of weeks ago. I have found similar things online attributed to Brownfield and sons. Would this be correct?

It is possible to find out what was made by whom on certain dates using the registration diamond.

It looks to me like you have a J on the top, a 2 on the right a 3 on the bottom and possible B on the left.

That would work out as Oct 2, 1854 Parcel 3 if I have those right. Maybe you can verify what you see in person.

The chart is from Cushion's book of British Ceramic Marks showing Wm Brownfield of Cobridge did register a pattern that day.

Are you sure it's a cake stand? It may be a trick of the light but the top looks like it's not flat. You don't show a side view so it's hard to tell.
    It may be a comport?

Hi there. Thanks for this. The bottom one looks like it could be an 8 or a 3. Depends how you look at it. The rest I got the same as you. Looks like it prob is brownfield then.

The top has an indent like a bowl would. I guess you could eat soup out of it which would be cool. I might just try it.

Comports/compotes are a footed serving dish, not particularly meant for soups. :)
