Cake shovel

Discussion in 'Introductions' started by Johan Derkesen, May 16, 2016.

  1. Good evening everyone. My name is Johan Derkesen. I'm from the Netherlands, but I live in Germany. recently I've become quite a few items (old and older). I'd like to post some of them here in order to find out what they are.

The first one is a cake shovel. I found this:
"WMF.N" with "M" and "F" letters glued together. Some marks from this group are rare/very rare. But this isn't quite the same as on my shovel. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

With the added N on the end - Nickle Silver (Which is Nickle Alloy, no silver)

Hopefully someone will correct me if I am wrong.

No need to correct you, desperate!

Just to give back up, here's a good page about WMF silverplate marks. Although the WMFN itself isn't illustrated, the N appended to the initials does in fact stand for Nickel Silver.

  6. Okay great stuff! That helps. Can anyone put a year or decade on it or maybe the deco style (or how do you call that)?
