Hi Heather and welcome! I'm not sure if too many people will see your question up here in the Introductions section so you might want to repost it in one of the categories.

Are there any marks on your cage? It's helpful to have some straight on photos and close up of marks usually as well as measurements for most things. I know there are some old catalogs of Hendryx cages available online.

I do know they have been widely reproduced as decorators items. They can come quite aged looking. Drop them in the sea at high tide and retrieve them at low tide.

It sure looks like a reproduction , not many signs of real age .

It's begging for a plant. Or a small bird. I'm not seeing any age either.

OK thanks I have had cage over 20 years only history I had of it is an old lady who lived in Wales kept her parrot in it he was about 10 when I got him the cage was seemingly in the family belonged to her Dad! I will go back up loft if get chance and check for trade mark. And see how I get on.

    Yipes...
Maybe I misunderstood. The parrot died?
I've always heard that old brass, especially, has lead and copper that is toxic. I know that brass-cleaning agents are very toxic. What's the size? Also, it's unlikely that somebody could successfully keep a bird on a single dowel... it destroys their feet. Finally, judging from the perch size, assuming it is appropriate for the foot size of a parrot, the bird would practically fill the cage.
    I hope I misunderstood. Otherwise, I'm sad.

Peter parrot is still with us took several years for me to wean him of cage he was agrophobic poor critter but now leaves happily with 3 others in there own extension. Just cage doing nothing in loft bar weighing it down! It is very very heavy hence my belief to be solid brass

Does the cage attract a magnet, or vice-versa? (If so please indicate which case is applicable). However, I doubt it is steel.

It may be made of anodized aluminum, based on the white oxide visible at many of the joints. Vertical wires are probably brass since no spot-corrosion, but all other parts seem to show corrosion characteristic of aluminum.

Old brass cleaner also leaves white powder residue. I think it is more likely than mixed metals.

First sentence is true. But if brass cleaner had been used on this item there would be other indications such as places on the wires that are difficult or impossible to reach with routine, manual polishing, and the wires are completely uniform all over in appearance.

Hello again all, not much further forward. Cage does not attract a magnet on any part. It doesn't appear to have any markings though it's 3ft high excluding mahogany top which is 5inches high and it's diameter is 18nhalf inches. I am so not clever when comes to uploading pics and don't understand in truth the instruction so will get my daughter at that 1 day if will be of help but in absence of markings??.....got PIC of base. Even screws are brass
