    Hello everyone,

I hope you are all well!

I'm writing to ask your opinion about this beautiful ring I recently found.
It is a silver ring with a crab mark (French for at least 800/1000 silver, if I'm correct), marcasites and a green cabochon.
What era would you date it? I have found similar rings dated from the first decades of the 20th century (Art Deco), but I am by no means an expert.
Also, how would I know if the cabochon is glass, chrysoprase, or some other kind of gemstone?
Finally, what could its value be?

Thank you very much, I am grateful for all the things I'm learning on this forum!

Very nice stone, it looks like chrysoprase, but it is best to have it tested.
The crab mark is for .800 fineness only, used 1838-1973. The ring could be Art Deco period, like you said. Green stones were popular at the time.

Chrysoprase is one of the varieties of chalcedony, just like carnelian.:)

As others have said it could be Deco, from the form it's probably late period perhaps the 1940's. Chrysoprase was popular in the Deco period, there aren't really any home tests you can do to check it yourself. As @Any Jewelry says Chrysoprase is chalcedony, it's just the name for the green colour of chalcedony.

The price for the one on Ruby Lane is hugely ambitious, at half the asking price it wouldn't be cheap. Everyone wants gold ones.

I agree, even half the price would be too much. Ruby Lane tends to be grossly overpriced.

Thank you for all the answers!
I asked about the value because I collect vintage jewelry to wear it, and I like to know more about my little treasures.
I won an auction for about 20 dollars, I think I was lucky then!

You done good. My guess would be chrysoprase too. It's definitely an old ring and no one trying to look old; the insides of the new ones are much plainer.

    Thank you again!
I plan to wear this beautiful ring soon, but I never had any marcasite jewelry.
Do the little marcasites risk falling off?

If they do, it is easy to find replacements.:)
