But what is it?

I have here a piece of pottery made in San Juan d'Oriente, Nicaragua; signed by Angel Miguel Calero. It does not appear to be a vase, a bowl or anything else I can think of. Do you think it may be missing something; or am I missing something? Or maybe just art pottery? Has anyone come across this particular form before? Can't find anything similar online. Dimensions: about 7" wide and 5" tall. Thanks as always! IMG_1436 (1024x765).jpg IMG_1435 (1024x765).jpg IMG_1440 (1024x765).jpg IMG_1438 (1024x765).jpg

I'll say it is simply a clay basket.

Do not hold me to it though LOL

Possibly to put a pot inside containing a vine. Would make a little bit more sense if it was also designed to hang. Otherwise ???????????????????????????

I like it... it's interesting. I agree that it looks like it was made to be a hanging planter.

I like the planter idea; a pretty little ivy would look nice growing in and out and around it...thanks!

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

    All good ideas!

A votive in there would make some wonderful light patterns in a boudoir or intimate little cozy corner.

I'd throw a tealight in there too. I'm not sure that sort of pottery would stand up to being used for a planter.

Could also be a diffuser for burning incense. I don't know if there's a proper term, but something like this:

There is a name for this, of which I cannot remember.

I believe it is supposed to be hung in a macrame type of thing and it should hold a candle.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Votive candles do produce heat.......not afraid of cracking????

After looking again.....I retract my statement!!!!:shy:
