When I wind it, it runs for some time and then stops. When shake it starts running again. Do you think it is some serious issue? Probably it will be expensive to get it serviced?

 

Might be something out of whack but I'd guess just cleaning needed. Take it in and ask. They should tell you a price first.

Sounds like just dirt and quite possibly disuse. If it has not been used for a long time, just persisting with encouraging it to run may free it up enough to bring it back to reliable occasional or persistent use.

The main problem is that the spring sticks to itself, much reducing the poer available. Running it down and rewinding it a few times tends to polish away the dried oil in the spring between the leaves that is causing the problem.

No improvement after a week, then try to find a repairer.

Avoid jeweller's shops, they will simply send it to a local repairer to do the actual work and charge you at least twice what they are charged. Locate the man who actually does the work.

It is not a tough job, just slightly more complicated than cleaning a mechanical wristwatch.
