    I bought this from a seller online. I thought it might be in worse shape and was going to turn it into a necklace but I like it as is. Just acid tested it and inspected it. It was sold as no hallmarks, etc but after removing the glass cover I found one on the silver insert that holds the glass in. On the inside it says LKERSPATENT
    The L and K are worn at the top but still visible, the other words are in great condition. I dont believe there are letters preceding the L, but where can I find info on this patent mark?

    In the photo of the back it's on the inside lip of the removable circle that holds the glass.

    The patent will be for the glass frame. That's a late 19th C silver with gold accents sentimental brooch, would have held a lock of hair.

    I'm thinking of converting it to a necklace. Unsure at this time.... Any way to gently remove the pin on the back?

    Not that I know of....unless one is a master jeweler.....
    plus the style of pin helps to ' pin ' down the age of the piece...

    It's yours...so I can't tell u what to do with it....
    but..
    I will say ...if you cut it up, and add a bale....you'll have ruined a tasty piece of history..
    IMO........;):eek::eek:

    DO NOT DAMAGE THE PIN!!!! You will destroy its value, use one of the converters :)
