    Hi folks

Can anyone let me know if this brooch has got anything going for it, I can't decide

It's had another link added for use as a pendant

It's a solid metal, not plated (reds on brooch is probably my sunburn reflection)

Only bought as it looked to have a bit of age, Celtic ?

    Thanks

I'm not totally sure. I don't think it's horribly old.

Ok, and no one thought to tag me?:banghead::hilarious:
I have a collection of these, bracelets, pendants, you name it. Many were made by Jewish silversmiths for the Moors of the Maghreb, mainly Tunisia and Algeria. In this case the Moors were people of mixed Berber and Arabic descent, with a culture of their own. The symbols are based on Arabic calligraphy, often Islamic.

Marks could be anywhere. Check the front for marks, tiny marks on the rims, maybe. Most were made during French colonial rule, so the marks could be French (=tiny).

Just to show where to look and how tiny the marks can be:

This brooch/pendant also has three marks on the back.

The seller of this pendant thought it was Persian and unmarked, which is why it was a bargain. It is in fact Algerian Kabyle, and the front is covered in marks, a total of 11:
