Trying to figure out if this bronze figure is a brush rest and is it the mythological beast called Baku? I have never seen a boars head/elephant trunk on dragon body. The closest thing I found was the Tibetan "Baku". This interesting piece has no marks and measures approx. 9.5 inches. Thank you for looking!

It is a mythical beast, no doubt about it.
As far as I know a Baku has lion or tiger paws and a heavier body. The look of the one could be artistic licence though.;)
Maybe it is meant to be a Makara, also a mythical beast with a trunk.

It could have been made in Java, Indonesia.

Yes that is what I kept finding when I was studying Baku figures! Is this a brush rest or just a small bronze? Thank you!

It is just a small bronze, imo.
