How can I find out more about this bronze man? He doesn't look like a warrior or anything like that. I don't even know which country he would have originated from.

It is very good quality, so I expect it to be worth quite a lot.

Sorry, I had no idea what 'quite a lot' could be :)

Value depends on the maker, quality, size, and condition. I just noticed that he is missing a finger, which lowers the value considerably.
Also, the part where the finger is broken off looks silvery. If it is, the metal isn't bronze but bronzed spelter or something similar. That also influences the value, bronze is worth more.

I think it best if you send photos to an auction house specialised in Asian art and ask them. Make sure the photos give a good impression of your item. If there is a maker's mark, photograph that too.

Just to avoid confusion, Onis are not traditionally associated with temples. In recent times they have come to be regarded as more 'cuddly' than in the old days, and they occasionally appear as protective figures on houses etc.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Looks like he's missing a spear or something, aside from a finger!! But he also looks very nicely done!! AND looking at that finger stump, he also looks like he might be plaster or something other than Bronze?????? OOOPS... and WELCOME to ANTIQUERS, @Simon Hill!!!:):)

Definitely feels and sounds like metal. Also too heavy to be plaster I think, bearing in mind it sounds hollow too.
