bronze fish seller. this is a Bergman amphora mark but doesn't look like his work.

    That signature looks like it says "RR".....to me at least!! Beautiful piece, too!!

    What is the material of the plinth?

    It could be distortion due to the ribbed lines of the basket, but the urn mark seems less plump than the Bergman one, and the handles look too curled. But as I said, the basket weave could make it look different.

    About the subject, Bergman owned a foundry, he cast works by various artists.

    In my experience, when Bergman pieces have separate plinths, they are of natural stone, like marble. This plinth looks different.
    Of course I haven't seen everything that came out of the Bergman foundries,;) and the plinth could be a replacement.
