Bronze dog? sculpture / statue - any ideas on age or origin?

    Posted in finds the other day as I recently picked this guy up at a second hand store. He seems to be bronze - and solid - weighs in over 4 1/2 pounds he's about 5 inches high and 5 inches long. He's certainly not the finest animal sculpture I've ever seen but he has a certain appeal :) Just curious if anyone has any guesses on his origin. He's not signed or marked that I can find - but interestingly he's finished on the bottom as well - paws and all.
