    Hey guys,

My dad bought this a while back. I managed to get something who speaks Chinese to transcribe the writing:

    Poem on body:
    文禽被五采
    故佇牡丹前
    何似舜衣上
    雲龍因焕然
    The poultry is plucked
    Former peony
    What is it like?
    Yunlong due to Huanran

    Mark:
    大明宣德
    Daming Xuande

The poem literally translates into English terribly but the mark to the base says made for Xuande who ruled 1425 to 1435. I'm assuming this vase isn't that old but is a mark showing the style it was made after.
It seems to me like the popular bronze, brass and copper mixed items made around 1900 but I am far from knowledgeable on Asian art.

Does anyone have any info on this or things like this?

Mystery to me but it’s a beautiful piece! I bought a presumably bronze, and presumably Japanese small vase recently. Haven’t been able to find out much about it. Looks like it was possibly signed but right on the edge on the base and it’s worn down too much to be recognizable if it was a signature. Good luck, really nice looking one you have.

That's always a bugger with hallmarks. Wear can be beautiful and annoying at the same time
