I've been over it and over it and no marks. It weighs a ton for its size and has copper content. Someone was using it for a candle holder before I found it at an estate sale. The house had souvenirs apparently from all over the globe, or at least all over World Market. My first guess would be somewhere in Southeast Asia, but???? It has pomegranates in the design.

Good question. Doesn't look like any lotus I've seen, but then the ones I've seen have been root slices in an Asian grocery!

Very nice find, evelyb. Are you sure it is bronze? I know they made them in silver, and yours looks silver in the pics.
    My commiserations.:joyful:
You're right, lotus flower, Indo-Persian style. Made in Kashmir.:)

    I'll have to test it.

...two minutes later. Patinated bronze or copper. It scratches up red on my stone. No need to even bother with the acid.

Still beautiful, but not worth as much as the silver ones. I would have bought it.:)

I was surprised to find it there in the last hour of the sale. I think the candle wax on the inside threw people.

Not today. Silverplate. (wahhht wah) got a piece with "soft" handles and no marks. Took it home and... nope.

I'll probably be selling it locally, but it's definitely not staying.
