    Hi,
Trying to figure this pin out. Marked sterling on both pieces, 2" x 1 1/2", the crown has split from the bottom part. 'Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense' is on the British Order of the Garter. I have found a couple that are similar that are referred to as sweetheart pins, but I'm not sure if that is correct or if this is a Order of the Garter pin.
This has the 'C' clasp, so early 1900s?
    any information appreciated
    thanks for looking

that looks too ornate to be a sweetheart......but it is sweet !!!

Thanks komokwa and Aaron:) I didn't see the other thread. The other one is older than mine, don't know anything else about it though.

It is beautiful, cx, and the enamel is still in good condition.
No British stamps, maybe Canadian made? The sterling stamp was introduced in the 19th century, don't know exactly when. That hinge is mostly seen on 19th century pieces, the badge could be 1870s-80s, maybe earlier.
Let's see what the others say.

    There goes my conspiracy theory...:hilarious:

It is not part of any official Garter regalia. On full dress occasions medals and orders are worn, at all other times, no visible insignia. It could relate to some overseas Royalist fan club, possibly American.
