    Hello,

I apologise if this is in the wrong category.

I recent found a rare coin in the UK

One of these sold on ebay last week for £500 and last month £3,500+

    ref - https://www.express.co.uk/life-style/life/916973/ebay-rare-coins-rare-2-pound-coin

Now i am no expert, however EBAY is confusing me, because people img_20180907_051816.jpg img_20180907_051832.jpg img_20180907_051951.jpg img_20180907_052238.jpg ebayers are claiming to be selling the actual mint error ones when they are not and ones that are legit are asking £3,000-£7,000

so can someone look at my coin and tell me if its the mint error one? which side does the queen side have to be facing? and how do i know if my writing is upside down? i have seen different versions and people asking £3,000+ and one is obviously a real error and the other is just people trying this on and this is the same on the 10+ 20+ ebay listings when i compare the other listings mine is the same and when i compare to other listings my writing is the right way around.

I hope this all makes sense.

    thank you,
    Adam darlington

Its not a mint error, the articles in the press are picking out Buy It Now items not sold items.
The Express, Mirror and Daily Mail are running these stories daily and so are local papers copied from the nationals.
You never see a sold one go for hundreds or thousands

    Your coin is worth £2.

If you get an uncirculated one or proof then they are worth a little more for collectors anything between £3 and £10.

The best recent errors to look out for are the Dateless Twenty Pence, I have 3.
They still turn up in change. they sell for around £50

Dang! Why is the press reporting it incorrectly? It sounds worse than the press over here, if that's possible!

Slow news days, space filling, they see something on eBay that someone has listed for a silly price and then inform the masses making them believe they can get thousands for one.
My local paper was running these stories for the new Polymer £5 notes and then the £10.

In the comments column of the paper I wrote that they were misleading their readers, I was promptly banned from posting.

Yeah and they still accept my monthly payments to advertise with them.

When I set up my own website it will stop.
