Found this today. The makers mark on the silver is Broadway I think and I've just noticed the word Brierley engraved on the base of the glass. The lid weighs 100g and has a mirror inside it. Not sure if it's a glass mirror or if it is just polished silver.

Thank you. My phone seems to take better photos than my camera.

I think it's just polished. 1871 date, if that helps any. It wouldn't surprise anyone if the company who made the silver contracted out the bases, or the other way around. That's as far as I can get, not being a glassie.

Quite possibly. I was wondering how it worked. I got 1971 for the date, which surprised me. It looks older.

You have it right - Broadway & Co., Birmingham 1971 (over half a century old)...

If you put it like that it sounds quite old. Older than me even.

That’s also the sixties into seventies Brierley etched mark. They’d had a royal warrant for decades. But didn’t always add the word Royal to marks. There would have been a partnership with the silver maker.

... and the mirror will be a mirror, not polished silver.

I was wondering about the omission of the word royal

Yes. On closer inspection you can see a reflection of any surface debris a couple of mm behind, which would suggest a transparent layer.
