Brass vases identification help.....

    Oops, don't know how I managed to post photos twice!
    Thank you for your reply. That vase is very similar but like you I think the price is a little optimistic! I'm not worried about value - just curious as to place of origin and would also like to find out what the markings on the base mean.

    The mark on the base of the vase in the link is the same as yours, and they provide a good explanation:
    "The vase carries Ming dynasty markings to the base but is from a later period (it was usual for Chinese craftsmen to pay homage to earlier dynasties in this way)."

    Ce BCA may have a better idea of the actual date.
