Brass candle stick

    hi I got this of a lady 20yrs ago she told me it comes from a castle in France,
    It's about 60cm high. what's your thought on it or can someone give me some info please.

    Old or new, IDK, but THAT is one cool looking candlestick!!!! Others will be along to help you out though!!!!

    Interesting stick - the face and stylized leaves bring to mind "Egyptian" motives of the (at least 2) revival periods - late 1800's and 1920's, I think. That doesn't mean your item is that old, of course, but the surface certainly looks nicer than "last week."

    And "it came from a castle in France" - you did take that with a large grain of salt, right?

    I assume you are somewhere in Europe?

    I thought 1870s as well . I know theres a name for this kind of stick and its driving me crazy trying to remember ! Damn aging !

    At the time I was only 20 yrs old, so yeh did believe what she said as she was in her 70s, she couldn't take it back to Holland it weighs 6kg.
    So she gave it to me as I had an extensive candle holder collection allready
    I'm situated in Australia
