I found this in a box of @1900 ephemera and old natural history prints. Looks like a canary, pewter, to me. The bookmark is paper, and the yellow ribbon is kinda raggedy. The whole thing's about 7 inches, and the bird is a little less than half an inch long. There's a mark on the bird's belly, but I didn't succeed in reading it nor photographing it. If more than one person likes the bookmark, I'll raffle it on, say, next Friday. If somebody really can't live without it, would it be okay to offer it to the first person willing to part with ten bucks via PayPal, Mr. and/or Ms. Moderator? If not, I'll just stick with the raffle.
I don't know much about it either, but in jewelry the Copyright symbol means it's mid-1950s or later. Mostly anyway. I generally use anything handy as a bookmark, up to and including another book.
Ahhhhhhhhh, thank you! Yeah, me too... bubble-gum wrappers... rubber bands... receipts... my parrot's feathers... If you decide you want it, just let me know and maybe this bookmark will reform you!
Since this is the Give Aways forum, charging for it might be a gray area... I'm not a moderator, so can't tell. But I'd say to wait for the raffle first. Otherwise it might get people's hopes up and then the rug would be pulled out from under if you suddenly said that somebody was buying it before the raffle draw. Does that make sense? It's pretty early in the morning here. And you can put my name in for the raffle! I love bookmarks.
Anybody else want this? I'm gonna draw a name tomorrow morning in hope I can mail it when I'm out and about. So far, Fig is the only one "in", which makes her chances very good!
Great! Thank you - I can't believe there were no other bookmark lovers out there. I will be sending you a message in a minute.
