I picked this desk up from Craigslist in New England around 10 years ago - the seller had no information about the origin but had owned it for many years. Right now it is in rough shape and needs to be restored.

I am not able to find any markings or insignia on the piece, and my web searches have yielded no information/similar pieces so far.

The most similar pieces I can find are side by side/bookcase desks, but I did not find any that were square/flat/all wood like mine is. I also wonder if it may be the bottom half of a breakfront desk.

No expert here but it looks pretty rustic to me, maybe something that wasn’t made in a furniture shop?
I can say for sure that it looks sturdy and seems like a really functional piece for an entry way or country kitchen.

It does not appear to me to be a desk. Has no interior organizer, nothing to hold the drop down door if someone were leaning on it to write. And what about sitting in front of it? How far from the floor is the drop down piece? I think that part is for storage, with the door being used for temporary placement.

It is pine. Am on board with this being made outside the mainstream furniture industry. Maybe a custom piece made by a carpenter or a talented amateur in a home or school shop.
