I think "book ends" would be a better description. I've not seen anything like this -- wouldn't think 1960s on first sight. It would be helpful to have photographs taken straight on, a photograph of the bases and close-ups of any markings.

I'm thinking bookends too although clock garnitures might also be possible.

What an interesting idea! I hadn't thought of that. And think you're right. (They wouldn't work well at all as book ends.) An internet search for "clock garnitures" and "squirrels" brings up -- surprisingly --lots of examples. All credited to the Art Deco era. Had no idea that squirrels were a popular motif then. Learn something new every day. (One hopes.)

What does that read, Oliver? To my eye "VCAA." Same to yours?

    Rabbirls?

No. I like "squabbits" better. :)

    Hi,
I have two cement urns with those "creatures". I always called them long eared squirrels.

Squabbits are often misidentified as long eared squirrels.
The difference between the two is that Squabbits are nearly invisible, yet hidden in plain sight.
In order to catch a squabbit, you must go out using an Ultraviolet Flashlight. This will help you identify the glow from their yellow/green eyes. Much the same color as Vaseline glass.
You have to be alert. The little buggers are very illusive, just like the $100,000 painting at thrift stores.
