    Hi all.
    At last, an active forum.
I've searched for a while now but had no luck.
I have this blue and white antique jug (water/milk?) with a pewter lid.
I love the simple poppy pattern not sure of the other flower?
I'd like to know who It's by if possible.
    Cheers

Not a clue, but I've made it easier to see.

    Lovely piece.
Looks like Oriental Poppy and Daisy.
That's all I've got to offer.

Are there any marks on the lid?

It's a beautiful jug but the marking is unreadable to me, love it though ... Joy.

How tall? Many pewter-lidded pitchers were for syrup.

Welcome, Lewie. I'm clueless about the mark but curious about how the lid works. Is there some kind of mechanism operated by the knob closer to the hinge that raises it? Is the one behind to stop it from opening a full 180 degrees?

Thanks for all the replies and welcomes.
The jug isn't to hand at the mo so i'll answer queries on the morrow.
I am wondering if I have the stamp in the correct orientation.
I've turned the photo and it looks very different from each angle.
It seems to have a distinctive shape so I'm thinking someone may spy it and recognise it despite it being blurred.
Bronwen, the white button, when pressed by your thumb whilst holding the handle, opens the front part of the lid.
I'm guessing it would be so the 'server' could hold a cup in one hand and lift the lid and pour the milk, or whatever, with the other.
I think the pewter knob is just for lifting the lid off.

Aha! Does the white knob move, operate a mechanism for lifting the spout side of the lid?

Apologies for my simplicity, but I've never seen a pitcher with a sugar bowl lid modified to sort of fit the top - because without seeing the method of attachment and the interior of the top of the rim of the pitcher to convince me that this was manufactured initially like this, well that's what I think this is: a marriage of a sugar bowl lid and a sweet old pitcher.

A sugar bowl lid would be round, not with a pointy bit for a spout on one side, although that is what it reminds me of.

    Right then.
    It's about 180mm tall.
antidiem, the lid is original as far as I'm aware.
Here are pictures of the underside of the lid and with it open on the jug.
As you can see, the bar is fixed just past the hinge and the other end is attached to the white button. DSCN6070 - Copy.JPG DSCN6069 - Copy.JPG

Cannot help but wanted to say what a lovely piece it is. Of course I'm partial to poppies. So unusual in the blue and white. Hope you can find the maker.

The mark reminds me of Suzuki (Gotheburg 1133) most likely not a match, but may help you somehow?

Yes it definitely does appear to be an original lid, weird looking sugar bowl thing! Thanks for showing me how it attaches.
