    Hello world again,
Would you tell me more about this quite large ( base diameter is 5,5 inches, its height is 10 inches) china candlestick? Thanks in advance good people! 20190729_173035_resize_16.jpg 20190729_172726_resize_97.jpg 20190729_172705_resize_62.jpg 20190729_172742_resize_59.jpg 20190729_172736_resize_83.jpg 20190729_172808_resize_42.jpg 20190729_172935_resize_27.jpg 20190729_172910_resize_64.jpg 20190729_172901_resize_90.jpg 20190729_172837_resize_18.jpg

The decoration is blue transferware. You may be able to find parts of the transfer on other pieces - plates, bowls, etc - on which the name of the pattern may be included in the marks. But keep in mind that transfers are not unique to a maker. So if you do find another use of this same design, it may appear on pieces by a variety of china makers.

Looks as if it may have been a lamp base at some time.

That was my first thought too and I'd lay odds it was designed as one; drilling this to make a lamp of it would be hazardous and it would likely have been damaged or destroyed.

Maybe close up photos of the hole could determine if there is glaze inside?

No, there is no glaze inside both holes 20190729_192819_resize_35.jpg
Unfortunately this inside is harder to catch in my camera, but my eye didn't catch any glaze also here

One of the photo I've posted is a base with mark, but it seems to be hard to decipher.

I don't see a pic of the underside, much less one with a mark. ??

I assumed it was the candleholder part because I don't believe I have ever seen a transferware piece decorated underneath. Maybe this is the first time?

And there is no mark there.

I could be wrong but I think that is the top. There is a side hole on the base section. At least I think it would show on the base.

So true. So true. Perhaps Marzena can say if that is the photo of the base or if perhaps one with a close up of the mark would be helpful.

Well ya take a gal at her word...but maybe she didn't understand we need to see the INSIDE underneath the base ????

So , now that I've involved myself where I should not be ......it's time for an objective...comment....

    One stick...not even a pair..
the transfer....boy, they look poorly affixed...
the hole thru the bottom and the center indeed look like it was going to be made into a lamp..

So , I'm wondering out loud if this item is even worth further discussion.....
    What...$ 5 bucks at a yard sale???

    IMO....
