    Hello everybody,

I'd like to find more information on this glass candlestick.

    I assume it's antique.
I really have no clue as to:

-What kind of glass it is.
    -Who the woman is.
    -How old it is.
-And where it could have been made.

    Height: 27 cm.

It has a stick thats says VZV, can't find anything about it.

Hopefully somebody knows more about it :)

    Thank you very much!

She looks a bit like a caryatid, what does she have in her right hand?
And is that a Piet Hein Eek table she is standing on?:)

About the table, these are the original seller's pictures :p
So I can't tell you haha.

The sticker by the way... doesn't say VZV.
A very stupid misunderstanding from me.
(VZV in dutch is the abbreviation for: "provided with" a sticker :shame::shame:)

In her hand: A sword and .... ??

When you ask what kink of glass I am not sure what you are looking for. Glass is glass even when it has a high lead content and is called crystal in Europe it is still glass. This is a translucent blue color not enough pigment for opaque and too much for transparent. The candle looks like European allegorical female warrior. The mold maker did some great work. I do not recall seeing anything like this before.

    Yes, due to the glass...

    I mostly buy opaline glas.
But I thought that perhaps this kind of glass had a specific name,
that would make me find more identical glass pieces.

Apart from the bottom, where the glass seems way thinner,
it almost has some kind of stony look.

    some kind of stony look.

I believe this is due to a surface treatment, either an acid etch or a fired on finish. The glass itself appears to be be almost transparent. ( the bottom, where the glass seems way thinner,)

Yes, I thought so, a sword. She also appears to be wearing some kind of partial armour. So I would agree with a woman warrior, either allegorical, or inspired by a historical figure like Boudicca.

The shape of the label might be an indication. It may have been one of those gold-coloured labels.

    Is the sword broken?
What is in her other hand?

I have absolutely no idea. To me it looks like an animal haha. That can't be right. A dove or something

I think her other hand is holding the drape of her over-skirt (or toga-like garment) away from the sword.

After zooming in, I thought I saw some sort of paw...
On the right side, a bit beneath her hand. :p
