Didn't someone say that when you have that raised ring around the base that the vase is newer ??

What do you mean by raised ring?

The unglazed part of the base that the vase sits on.

I guess , it could be seen as ....lower than the glazed crackle..

The foot ring? What about it? The inner wall has to be tall and most of the time straight. Or you are talking about something else?

    3_zpswmwhazzc.jpg Hi,
This is the foot ring that Komo is talking about.

I got that part but not the "raised" one.

    Hi,
It is higher than the center of the bottom.

Majority of the Chinese vases have such feet. You can see also ones with flat bottoms but that depends on the shape, glaze and period of production.

    Not porcelain, by the way.

Seems like the shape is not Chinese so has to be some other Asian country.
Could be called stoneware I guess. By the way, the Chinese did not distinguish between porcelain and stoneware, at least in old times. They had stoneware/porcelain and earthenware.

Not a typical Korean shape and glaze but I will search round.
What are the features that give a clue about the recent age of the piece?
