    Hi guys!

Sorry for the sideways photos. I don’t understand why it does this sometimes. Hopefully it’s not to hard to tell what I have here. I keep seeing a reindeer or antelope but the loops they made on the top are throwing me off. The bottom is finished nicely. I think this is a vintage piece.

Any ideas on what the animal could be and/or possible origin/maker of this cool piece?

Thanking you in advance for any help.

PS At least it’s finally hump day

Sorry, I’ll get some better ones. It’s the end of day and my Covid leg was giving me problems. I was trying to work where I was sitting

I think it's a student piece. I e, a student's effort to show what they can do to qualify for employment in a glass (blowing) studio.

Definitely vintage as there has been a progressively diminishing demand for ashtrays for the last 40 or so years, at least in the Western world.

The top parts may not represent anything identifiable but only to demonstrate the student's abilities in shaping glass.

If a practical use was intended they'd be handy to pick up the ash tray to move, empty.

Too bad about the two cigar/cigarette "rests." Had they been omitted the piece could have been intended as a decorative bowl for candy, bonbons. And have a much larger market than an ashtray these days.

I LIKE odd glass/crystal art pieces and have amassed a few over the years. If I owned this piece it'd join the others in the "brag cabinet" as an interesting piece of art glass. This is not to be interpreted as a WTB. My brag cabinet is already sufficiently crammed full.

I can't see an animal here. A flower maybe?

It looks like a Ram to me.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Thought it might help.....now thinking it really doesn't, but you just need a plain background....white or off white pillow case, or back of a plain placemat...OH, and first profile, makes me think of a Poodle now or Reindeer!

P.S. to suggested uses for the top sculpture: A holder for a cigaret carton, inserted between the two loops. It IS an ashtray so why not? Got an old classic pack of ciggies to try it with, @gauntlettgems ?

It most certainly is not a student piece. And anyone trying to gain employment would make something far more complex to show off skills.

    Mountain goat, anyhow. Capricorn type.

Clear glass is a monster to photograph, you really need a plain darker backgound.
