Found this nice old cruet at the same GS. The stopper is wrong, But the Cruet is nice Blown Glaas w a rough pontil. Pattern alternates Zippers with Rectangular Panels, and Gorizontal Cuts on top in an eight panel sesign. Any Ideas of age and maker?
Thank you in advance! 006 (468x640).jpg

I think this is a mold pressed cruet. The plungers went in through the bottom to form a smooth interior and neck. There was excess glass left after the plunger withdrew which was tooled over to close the bottom and any extra was cut off. I t call a "cut shut" technique easily confused with a pontil but generally will have a tell tale "pigtail". The molded handle is a good clue. I think it is probably an identifiable pattern but I do not know right off.

Thank you Tallcakes! I do have a stopper but it isn't the right one, even though it has a "zipper" design. Dang it!

Here is a picture of the stopper. I Just ASSUMED it was not the right one. It doesn't fit well. It does have 2 "zippers" then a diamond row, then 2 more zipppers....etc. I could be wrong about it not being the right stopper. I also found it interesting that when I googled it, any pictures I found did not have the stopper either. 010 (306x640).jpg

you're correct, that isn't the right stopper. That looks like a Duncan's Mardi Gras stopper.

the couple that I was able to find with a stopper neither didn't seem to match. I'd expect the stopper to resemble the finial of the butter or sugar lid.

Well i'll go back by there tomorrow and see if any of the other cruets she had might have had the stopper switched. It's worth a shot ! besides, she said she was going to drag more glass out tomorrow! LOL

I used to be addicted to the TS a few years ago and went almost daily. I found a nice hand painted, pearlescent Japanese lunchon tray missing the cup. I bought it anyway. The next day I found the matching cup :) I have also found booze bottles with missing stoppers. I would hunt through the entire store and 9 times out of 10 found them. I guess kids take them off and then put them elsewhere? Also the workers are lazy at times and don't put correct sets together.

The hunt is so fun though :)
