This bowl is pretty big - about 12" across, and deep - about 4". I think the design is acid etched, but I'm not sure. It looks fairly new to me.
Does anyone know who made it, and how the design was done?

I would guess sand-blasted. It's simpler and leaves that matte appearance. I'd also look to LE Smith just because that's where I always look first when black glass is involved.

I would try Fenton also as that etch looks like one I had on a stretch glass plate.

I think this has age to it. If you hold it to strong light can you see purple through it? If so, it is amethyst glass.

I couldn't really take a side profile shot - here's the best I could do:

    Hi Book,
If you inverted it, it would be a perfect side profile. Now I have to copy and flip it.
