    Hi folks and happy christmas

this was another carving i bought on ebay last week (£8)
sold as just a carved figure with rifle
    nice large size 13 inches
looks to be carved in a black forest style, but not certain on origin, swiss ?
not sure if hes a hunter or soldier ?
the base had a cloth type material on base, which i took off,

    any info or thoughts appreciated

    Very nice, charlie.
The clothing and footwear style is Ottoman, not Swiss or German.

One of my favorite things is buying cheaply on eBay and selling for substantially more on the same platform with better titles/keywords/descriptions.

yeah its something i havent done in a while, but still a great avenue to find things
i usually have to lighten the pics people add to get a half decent view sometimes :)

I have a few sellers that I buy from regularly and can regularly make good profits from. They do a pretty good size volume of very good things. They start all of their auctions at .99-9.99. When selling a lot of good stuff at low opening bids on eBay it’s inevitable that some gems are going to slip through the cracks. Not all collectors check eBay every single week. If you hunt and peck and bid where there’s value it can be done regularly. I’ve made well over 1k on single items bought and sold on eBay. I’ve made hundreds many, many times. I think you’ll do well on this one.

Nice. Got to be easier than spending hundreds of hours travelling around charity shops like I do. Although the charity shops do hold that 'kid in a sweet shop' appeal. I tried this technique of using very broad vague search terms (e.g. Chinese plate) but gave up quickly after not much success. Maybe I should try again.
