Black and Red Glass vase With Plastic Insert for Flowers

    Went to a private sale, this was one of the pieces I bought. Stands 6 5/8" tall and measures 3 7/8" across the top. Has a little insert for flower. It is removable. Unmarked. Very neat! I have never seen anything like this. Any idea on maker?

    That looks italian to me, dammed if i can remember the name . :(

    Aventurina ! I cant believe I remembered ! Though this may not be ,at least its an avenue to look.

    I don't see metal flecks in the glass, which is what aventurina has. IMHO I see Bohemia/Czech, but not really my area. Nice looking piece.

    Yep,your right ! I guess that wasnt what I was trying to remember ! LOL ! God how I hate getting older !I think your spot on Msgood.This was identifiedas 30s bohemian/czech.

    Looks Czech to me.
    Look closely at the bottom, maybe swipe with a damp cloth and slant in the light. You may be able to find a very faint acid etch "Czechoslovakia".

    I think the plastic was not original to the vase. It just happened to work for whatever the person wanted it to do. Looks more like the insert from the inside of a faucet. Just my weird opinion.

    To add to what Pat said, the "Czechoslovakia" may not be in a straight line, or on one line for that matter. Here are some drawings of what the mark might look like. The letters on the actual mark will be uniform rather then hand written as the drawings show

    Thanks everyone for the help...as I look again there it is. Made in Czechoslovakia. Duh!
