Found this letter opener and lookup on 925-1000 didn't show the date or company. The only capital J is in the 1800's but I assume this is 20th century. Also couldn't find the company. And finally, who knows what breed of dog this is??? Thanks!

Or maybe a wire haired fox terrier.

Airedale, wire haired fox terrier, Lakeland terrier, and Welsh terriers all can look pretty similar in terms of body shape, without a "dog show" cut, or their coloring shown.

Airedales might have a bit longer tails, that sometimes curl, while the others are shorter, thicker, and straighter.

Of course, size matters, with Airedales the largest, Welsh terriers the smallest, but with nothing to compare it to, it's hard to say for sure. I'd go with "a terrier."

I agree, it's a terrier of some variety. It's very cute!
