BIG CARVED WOOD JUG? w/SKULLS, DONKEY & FIGURES - WHAT IS IT? WHO MADE IT?

A friend of mine has a antique/second hand store that is packed to the point you walk sideways to get through some aisles.

I stopped by one day to give traffic a chance to clear some and while digging around I found this big, primitive jug? Container? It's carved from a tree limb or log.

It has carved figures and donkeys/horses around the base & skulls? around the lid. It is large (23" H x 15" W) & heavy. It also has only 1 handle? To hold while scooping water?

My friend said it was from India, but I'm thinking Africa? Or Mexico (because of skulls & their day of the dead)?

I've never seen anything like it and I collect & have a few primitive pieces.

Can anyone tell me ANYTHING about it, please?!

So did I. And it still looks the same to me.

Skulls are used in many cultures. But these aren't skulls, skulls don't have eyes, noses, or skin.

 

I'm sorry! I forgot I already asked about this! (I have a house I've been using for storage for storage auctions I've won & am now trying to empty it to rent house - there is so much stuff...I forgot. sheesh!
