Bentwood chair

Hi there

Could any of the furniture buffs here help me identify this chair which belonged to my mum. I’m guessing it’s late victorian or early 20th century. The manufacturer is SBC Co Ltd who I think were in London and claimed to make the only waterproof bent back chair at the time. See picture. Any info gratefully received.

Classic cafe chair made by many makers over many decades. Think yours is probably circa 1920 based on the label. Could be even a decade or two later but doubt too much earlier.

 

Thanks very much for getting back to me and sharing your knowledge. It’s really good to have a bit of background on it. It’s been sat on for decades in my mum’s flat but it was ‘just a chair’! I guess their proud ((maybe exaggerated) boast that it was the only waterproof chair on the market meant it was mAde to sit outside a cafe or restaurant at some point?

I've sat on that same chair in an older Itallian restaurant....... I'd say more 40's than 20's........ but like Brad said...... they made those ...lots...over many years..
